A cystoscopy is a procedure that is used to visually inspect the bladder.
Your urethral opening will be cleaned with antiseptic and you may receive a local anesthetic.
The scope itself is a thin tube which has a small camera on the end. The physician passes this tube gently through your urethra and into your bladder where she is able to visualize the lining.
The procedure itself takes less than 10 minutes. Your Athena doctor will go over the results of the cystoscopy after the procedure. She will discuss with you the options for treatment and together you will decide what is best for you.
